Follow-Up Outreach for Children Affected by the Saint Academy Building Collapse

In a heartfelt continuation of care, Naza Agape Foundation, in collaboration with Up Up Jesus World Outreach Ministry, organized a follow-up outreach for children affected by the tragic collapse of the Saint Academy building in July 2024. This program was created to offer psychological healing, emotional support, and practical resources to the children and their families as they continue their journey toward recovery.

The outreach took place at the premises of Up Up Jesus World Outreach Ministry, who generously provided full support, including the use of their church hall, sound system, electricity, and seating arrangements, ensuring a conducive environment for healing and connection.

The day was anchored on a holistic approach to healing, starting with group counseling sessions led by certified counselors and trained volunteers. The children were divided into smaller groups, where they had the opportunity to share their emotions and receive guidance in a safe, compassionate setting.

Common psychological challenges identified across the sessions included recurring nightmares, post-traumatic stress, survivor’s guilt, anxiety, fear of returning to school, and emotional detachment. Each counselor provided targeted recommendations such as continuous therapy, trauma-focused support, family involvement, and follow-up sessions to sustain the children’s healing process.

In addition to emotional support, tangible resources were distributed to encourage hope, hygiene, and personal development. Items included:

  • Customized affirmation cards focused on mindset and healing

  • Copies of “Victory at Last”, a self-help book by the Naza Agape founder

  • Fruit packs (watermelon and oranges)

  • Gift packs containing tissue, Vaseline, and soap

  • Snacks and drinks for the children, and refreshments for parents and volunteers

In total, over 70 people (children and parents) were directly impacted by this intervention.

This follow-up outreach stands as a testimony to the power of community, compassion, and intentional healing. While the road to recovery is long, Naza Agape Foundation remains committed to walking this journey alongside the children and their families.

“In the face of loss, we offer love. In the face of trauma, we provide tools to heal. And in the face of hopelessness, we speak hope.”
— Naza Agape Foundation

We extend our sincere gratitude to Up Up Jesus World Outreach Ministry for their partnership and unwavering support.
